What is The Symbolic Meaning of an Indian HeaddressAlthough an Indian headdress is very popular and still in fashion today, there are still many people are not aware of symbolic meaning of it. The traditional headdress has originated from Sioux Indians and it was often worn by chiefs and warriors. The headdress was only given to the most powerful in their tribe, only the ones that have survived and won the battles.

The Indian custom of wearing Indian headdresses started way back before the Indian territories was invaded by the white men. Each tribe has different designs for their headdress that were usually worn by their chiefs and warriors during their battles and festivals.

Each feather is earned by their act bravery. The first feather is earned if by the most adult member of the tribe. Before it will be given to the warrior, he must prepare himself by observing required days of fasting as well as mediation.
